All I Want For Christmas…

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 9:14 pm

is…. YOU. Actually I don’t really need anything. This year was awesome.

I haven’t really blogged about Japan yet but I’ll save that for when I upload my pictures. I’m finally home and it’s weird. I’ve been bumming it a LOT. Just a lot of lounging around and hanging with the pops. Being home is almost depressing haha… but it’s nice seeing family and friends again. Anyway Merry Christmas to everyone and make sure you eat plenties.

I MISS MY EAPERS. =T

Finally Finalized

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 4:55 pm

So it’s final. I’m done with finals. Haha feels so good. My last one was a little hard, but I just wanted to get it over with. After finals me and the girls went on a shopping spree at Vivo City. I’m pretty much tapped out in terms of funds, but somehow managed to find room on the MasterCard. Picked up some goodies for Japan like a beanie and I dropped about 2 bills on a jacket. Stupid me. It’s nice though… Oh and I also copped the new Incubus cd. Yay.

So after we shopped we hit up McDonald’s. The ones in Singapore have free internet surfing… and there was this little Chinese kid, about 10 or 11 years old on the computer next to us. We turn around and see him Googling PORN. Haha this kid was typing in search words like “girls sex” and “mother love.” WTF!? O_o It was pretty disturbing.

We were disgusted so we left and tried to find a taxi. As we were waiting, a bug flew in my mouth. I spit it out but right away I remembered that spitting is a no no in Singapore. So my cat-like reflexes kicked in and some invisible force caused me to throw my hand up and catch the spit. Yes, I spit in my own hand. Sigh. Okay, I’m going to go watch a movie and stay up late because I can. Schweeeee! Tomorrow is the “ALVA” event. It’s going to be big.

Cheers!

3 Out of 4

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 10:46 am

Today was my third final. One more to go. Man, I’m really not good at this studying thing.

Anyway, this past weekend was one of the best Thanksgivings ever. Actually, one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time. It’s too much to put into words, so if you’re lucky enough… I’ll show you one day.

I can’t believe I’m leaving Singapore next week. The whole thing just flew right past me. I’m sad but at the same time, excited. Excited about wondering what life’s going to throw at me next. I finish up the semester this Friday, celebrate Alvie’s 21st, enjoy Singapore, and pack. Then I’m off to Japanizzle. I’m psyched.

Okay, I’ll be seeing you soon Cali.

Baby, It’s Hot Outside

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 1:05 pm

I am pretty sad about leaving Singapore in less than a month, but I am beyond excited to come back to cold weather =D

I LOVE LAYERS…! Random, I know.

Tomorrow, we leave for Bali. I am ready for this much needed vacay. Papers and projects wore me out. Now I gotta do a little work before our super beach weekend. So, peace out.

In the words of the great Diddy:

Let me take you Indonesia
Where nobody can reach us
Theres no need to take your phone
Cause you far away from home
Baby let me be your tour guide
I’m your burger
You my fries

Going Indonesia,

Getting Fit

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 6:17 am

So lately I’ve been trying to get fit. My heffer ass has been working out more than ever, but I still don’t feel any healthier, let alone am I seeing any results. I have no idea what I should be eating… any suggestions, ideas, comments? Help a pudge ball out. =)

Atleast lately I’ve been having some sort of motivation. Me and the gang been going to KM8 on Sundays, which is this crazy beach party with international models. Tall, skinny, beautiful people. How’s that for some drive? Hah. Anyway, it’s good times… so if you’re ever in Singapore be sure to check it out!

us NON-MODELS goofing around in our our little corner haha.

My time here is coming to an end. Deadlines, finals, and moving out is going to be stress beyond words. This weekend is Hong Kong, which I’m super excited about. Hong Kong Disney here we come!

After finals, I’m going to travel a bit then head home right before the holidays. I’m a little scared to go back home. It’s going be weird trying to get back into the funk of things. I feel so out of the loop and I’m really going to miss my friends here. Oh well, life is ALL about change. Come June, graduation time and then off to new adventures. I’ve been looking into grad schools and I definitely am interested in a few programs. Wee!

Time to run. Literally.

P.S.
Happy Halloween. Get your tricks and treats, but be safe.

Lagging

Filed under: Singapore, Travels - katlinson @ 4:28 pm

Hey hey hey. Got back from the Philippines on Monday… haven’t had time to update. It was a great experience, especially since I was able to see most of my family. It was nice spending time with my parents and sister too. They really like Singapore. I promise details when I get back…

Tomorrow we leave for Thailand. I’m a little scared… martial law. Wish us luck and pray for us =).

ONE

Filed under: Singapore, Travels - katlinson @ 1:21 am

Today offically marks one month since I’ve been abroad. The experience so far has been,  well… one of a kind.

Last weekend was Malaysia. Didn’t get to see the monkey, but Melaka and KL were a good kick off to my traveling adventures. The twin towers were amazingly enormous. Something you seriously would have to see in person to understand what I’m talking about. Overall the trip was successful, but a few mishaps here and there (like losing bus tickets and encountering scary Malaysia men who ask, "Gotta problem????"). Oh and squatters are not fun to use. Believe me. Oh, and I got to drive a Trishaw! It was super duper fun =)

Anyway, check out my Fotki for pictures from the trip. –> PHOTOS

Other than that, classes have been going okay. I’m trying to keep up with these hardcore students, but I figured I’m only here for so long so I gotta have my fun emoticon ! Speaking of fun, I joined a dance class and last night was the first session. It was… exotic. Haha actually the class is indeed titled, Exotic Dancing. It’s like Asia meets Pussycat Dolls. Pretty damn good workout. Me and the girls were super sore from the slow and awkwardly held positions. We’ll see how exotic we get at the end of 6 weeks. Hopefully enough to enroll in level 2 haha. After our dancing, I was able to fit in a good jam/laundry time with Tim. Guitaring and singing at night near open windows is fun.

But now it is time to study. Indonesia this weekend, I’m psyched.

Officially missing you ALL,

Awkward Odors

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 3:09 pm

As beautiful and clean a country Singapore is, it smells weird almost everywhere you go. I’m sitting here in class (yeah I know, I should be paying attention), and I’m trying to take the least amount of breaths as possible. It’s weird, the majority of people here smell awful. Right now, the guy next to me smells like the ball pit in Chuck E. Cheeses. Seriously like sweaty feet. Don’t get me started on the buses. There’s a certain group of people, and I won’t say who, that smells like B.O. times 10. Me and a few of the other UC kids have noticed that it’s a freaking challenge to find a stick of deodorant in the stores, but the fronts of every store is super stocked with condoms. Haha… that might explain the bad odors. And when you finally do find one, it’s like S$10/stick. That’s still like 7 U.S. dollars. Amazing.

You know what also smells horrible? Durian. I swear they worship the damn fruit here. They even designed a building after it. But, it’s illegal to bring on trains and buses because of the smell. WTF?

Disclaimer- This entry is not meant to offend anyone, and if it does offend you… smell yourself haha jk.

Okay, I just needed to share that. Anyway, tonight is ladies’ night. Free entry to the clubs and bars, and ALL you can drink. That’s right… all the alcohol you can possibly dream of. I might have to pass tonight, it’s not too fun going to class Thursday morning with a hangover.

On a random note: God I miss hole in the wall Mexican food.

As I was sitting alone on a bench eating my sack lunch… I see this:

Haha pretty sad huh?

Okay, until next time… Peace out.

First Post in Singapore

Filed under: Singapore - katlinson @ 3:42 am

So, I really thought I would be posting a blog everyday. Haven’t really had much time to do so, but I’ll try my best to write about the highlights.

I’m here in Singapore. It’s crazy, I can’t believe I actually went through with it. It’s all starting to set in that I’m not going home for a while. It all really hit me once I got on the plane.

It’s been about three weeks now. So many things have happened and I’ve met a lot of really cool people. So many stories and adventures… so here’s a short recap.

The plane ride was long, almost 19 hours. The two girls next to me, mother and daughter were nice to talk to, except I was kind of weirded out at one point. I woke up from a nap and the 16 year old girl next to me was sleeping with her head on my lap! I didn’t know what to do with her head so I left it on my lap. Talk about awkward. Anyway, we stopped over in Taipei and finally got to Singapore. Singapore is super humid, but damn it’s nice here.

The first few days were just orientation, picking classes, and meeting the other 50 UC kids who are awesome. We’ve done so much- shop, eat, bird park, zoos, museums, eat, shop, clubs, bars, eat, tour the country, night safari, and did I mention eat? This whole country is seriously made up of malls and restaurants. The food here is pretty cheap and tasty.

Even though I’ve been having a great time, I’ve also had my share of bad luck here. As many of you know, I just got the new black Nikon S6. Left it in a taxi =( The same day we go to the bird park right? First bird I visit pecks the hell out of my hand. I’m lucky the stupid thing didn’t bite my hand off. He was pretty pissed that I leaned on a fence. The same trip… out of 51 kids, I happen to be the only one who gets SHITTED on. Yay. If I wasn’t wearing sunglasses, I woud have had poopy eye. Maybe it’s because I’m the only left handed student of the 51… who knows?

EAP Singapore Fall'06

We’ve been to many museums, but ONE story stands out. At one museum, there were many statues and real people pretending to be statues. Anyway, one of the girls from San Diego, Anna stopped by one of the statues (which happened to be a fat one) and she said, "WHOAA this one’s HUUUGE!" Of course, he was real and turned around and said, "HI…" hahahaha Anna ran away sooo embarassed. That had to be the highlight of my day!

On this trip I have also come to find that people here have a different sense of humor. I learned that the hard way. Let me explain. Well, me and a few of the girls went to get pedicures in Bugis Village. The nail salon we went to was filled with girls except for one guy who was visiting his friends who worked there. We were sitting on elevated chairs with our feet in the tub. When I was done, I tried to stand up but I had a skirt on. So I asked one of the workers to help me as I covered my panties. As I was getting up, I joked with the guy and said, "Don’t peeek!" Joke right? He didn’t think so. The guy went crazy on me. He started cussin and yelling in Mandarin. My friend Alva understood and told me he was pissed, which I could see. She said he was mad because he thought I was accusing him of looking up my skirt. Haha wow. She tried to explain to him but he wouldn’t give. It was funny but I felt kind of bad. Before we left I said sorry again but he just brushed me off and said, "I understand… %^&^&(*! Haha whatever that meant.

Besides that, everything else is going just great. I got sick because of the lack of sleep and overpartying, but I’m starting to kick back and get into school mode. Finally saw my cousins on Saturday and spent the day with them.

Okay, for your viewing pleasure, check out my pictures at Fotki!

Anyway, I’ll update more of my adventures later. Ciao.
