Lagging

Hey hey hey. Got back from the Philippines on Monday… haven’t had time to update. It was a great experience, especially since I was able to see most of my family. It was nice spending time with my parents and sister too. They really like Singapore. I promise details when I get back…

Tomorrow we leave for Thailand. I’m a little scared… martial law. Wish us luck and pray for us =).

Indo Life

Filed under: Travels - katlinson @ 5:18 pm

Been busy, wish I had more time to regularly update. Then again, if I did… I would bore the few readers I have.

To begin, this past weekend was absolutely amazing. Went to Batam & Bintan in Indonesia. It seriously ranks among the top things I’ve done so far while abroad. Me and a bunch of people stayed in huts on the beach in Bintan. We seriously had our own beach to just relax and have fun. I got super mosquito bites on my knees and got my foot ripped up by coral, but totally worth it haha. The family that owned the huts we stayed in seriously made the trip what it was. They fed us awesome Indonesian food, let us ride around in their boats, taught us Indonesian phrases, and taught us about their culture. The kids were so much fun too, like my little friends Three and Dedee. Dedee is this pudgy goober brat who ate like no tomorrow haha.

Oh and we had a bonfire and introduced smores to them! Anyway, there’s just too much to write about, so check out the photos once again: PHOTOS!

Tomorrow I leave for the motherland. I’m so excited, not only do I get to see my parents and my sister… but I finally get to meet all my relatives in the Philippines. Should be worth writing about, so until then… I’m out.

Sidenote: I’m not sure who reads this (except Trav haha thanks for commenting buddy), but either way it’s useful for putting down in words what I’ve been experiencing and feeling. Yahoo.

ONE

Today offically marks one month since I’ve been abroad. The experience so far has been,  well… one of a kind.

Last weekend was Malaysia. Didn’t get to see the monkey, but Melaka and KL were a good kick off to my traveling adventures. The twin towers were amazingly enormous. Something you seriously would have to see in person to understand what I’m talking about. Overall the trip was successful, but a few mishaps here and there (like losing bus tickets and encountering scary Malaysia men who ask, "Gotta problem????"). Oh and squatters are not fun to use. Believe me. Oh, and I got to drive a Trishaw! It was super duper fun =)

Anyway, check out my Fotki for pictures from the trip. –> PHOTOS

Other than that, classes have been going okay. I’m trying to keep up with these hardcore students, but I figured I’m only here for so long so I gotta have my fun emoticon ! Speaking of fun, I joined a dance class and last night was the first session. It was… exotic. Haha actually the class is indeed titled, Exotic Dancing. It’s like Asia meets Pussycat Dolls. Pretty damn good workout. Me and the girls were super sore from the slow and awkwardly held positions. We’ll see how exotic we get at the end of 6 weeks. Hopefully enough to enroll in level 2 haha. After our dancing, I was able to fit in a good jam/laundry time with Tim. Guitaring and singing at night near open windows is fun.

But now it is time to study. Indonesia this weekend, I’m psyched.

Officially missing you ALL,
